Gameplay
ERA is centered around the theme of elemental dinosaurs (dinos) battling for dominance. The four elements in the game are Earth, Air, Fire, and Water, each associated with unique mechanics and abilities. Players must strategically deploy their dinos, manage their crystals, and use powerful events, actions, and equipment to outmaneuver their opponents.
The win condition in ERA is to be the last player with surviving dinos. Players achieve this by attacking their opponent's dinos and using various card effects to gain the upper hand. A player loses the game when all their dinos are extinct.
Elements
- Earth: Represents strength, stability, and resilience; is associated with the physical and enduring aspects of nature, such as mountains, forests, and stone.
- Air: Signifies freedom, speed, and intellect; is associated with the sky, wind, and weather, embodying the unseen yet ever-present forces that shape the environment.
- Fire: Embodies power, passion, and destruction; is linked to heat, flames, and volcanic activity, representing both creation and annihilation.
- Water: Represents adaptability, fluidity, and calm; is associated with oceans, rivers, and rain, symbolizing the cycle of life and the constant flow of change.
Card Types
- Dino: The combatants in the game, each with a unique ability. Dinos are always on the battlefield and can be equipped with weapons and armor. During combat, a player can have their dinos attack their opponent's dinos.
- Crystal: Provide energy needed to play Action and Equipment cards. Crystals can be charged to increase their energy output.
- Event: Events represent the unstable nature of the elemental world and provide a controlled element of unpredictability to the game. Events have immediate effects when drawn and are then placed at the bottom of their owner's deck. As the game continues, the frequency at which events occur increases.
- Action: Actions provide various effects to influence the game and can be played at any time.
- Equipment: Equipment enhance dinos by providing additional abilities or stats. Equipment is categorized into weapons and armour, and each dino can only have 1 equipment of each type at any given time.
